A1 عبد الخالق، أحمد محمد. AB A sample of 242 Egyptian school students was recruited. Their ages ranged between 13 and 17 years. They responded to the Love of Life Scale, the Arabic Scale of Self-Efficacy, and the Self Esteem Scale, along with five self-rating-scales to assess physical health, mental health, happiness, satisfaction with life, and religiosity. Results indicated that boys obtained significantly high mean scores on mental health, happiness, and satisfaction with life than did their female counterparts. All the correlations between the Love of Life Scale and the other scales were statistically significant and positive in boys and girls except a non-significant one between love of life and religiosity among girls. Principal components analysis yielded one factor in boys and two in girls. The first factor in both sexes was labeled "Love of life and health", whereas the second factor in girls labeled "Self-efficacy and esteem". Multiple regression analysis indicated that the main predictors of love of life were self-esteem and happiness. It was concluded that love of life concept and scale characterized with good reliability, construct validity, and positive associations with subjective well-being scales among the present Egyptian sample of adolescents. By and large, the love of life concept is worthy of further investigations.
