هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى التعرف على العلاقة بين إدمان شبكة الإنترنت وكل من التواصل الاجتماعي والتحصيل الدراسي لدى طلبة جامعة نزوى، وتكونت عينة الدراسة من 412 طالباً (94 ذكور، و318 إناث) من السنة الثالثة والرابعة والخامسة من بعد السنة التأسيسية، ومن جميع كليات الجامعة الأربع. وتضمنت أدوات الدراسة: مقياس إدمان الإنترنت، ومقياس التواصل الاجتماعي. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة بلوغ عدد مدمني استخدام شبكة الإنترنت 40 مختبراً بنسبة 9.7% من أفراد عينة الدراسة. وعدم وجود فروق ذوات دلالة إحصائية بين المتوسطات الحسابية لمقياس إدمان الإنترنت تعزى لمتغير كلّ من (النوع الاجتماعي، والمستوى الدراسي)، وكذلك وجود علاقة عكسية ذات دلالة إحصائية بين إدمان الإنترنت والتواصل الاجتماعي، ووجود علاقة ضعيفة ذات دلالة إحصائية بين إدمان الإنترنت والتحصيل الدراسي. The purpose of this study is to find the relationship between internet addiction, social networking and academic performance. A measurement scale of internet addiction and social networking has been developed. A sample of 412 students from Nizwa University has been selected for the study. The selected students were from different collages and in their third, fourth and fifth year after the foundation. The study showed that 9.7% of students are addicted to internet. The study also showed that there is no difference in the average usage of internet and social networking and academic performance. It has also been proved that internet addiction affects the social networking negatively whereas the effect of internet addiction is weak on academic performance. (Author’s abstract)
