AB - This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of implementing an initiative proposal that exploits social media tools and specifically the hashtag feature to support students’ moderate expression of ideas from the higher education administrators’ point of view as main stakeholders. The study aimed at exploring the most supportive elements in this proposal and the major elements of challenge. The study was conducted applying quantitative methods in which a questionnaire was distributed to examine the attitudes of administrators in e-learning and academic counseling and students’ extracurricular programs. The sample comprised 30 participants or administrators in Saudi higher education institutions. The study discusses participants’ attitudes and opinions on the proposed initiative and how it could support students’ moderate thinking and blogging and they provided their opinion on how it could support the university and the society as well. This study also overviews the most identified supporting elements and most challenging factors that could hinder the application of this initiative proposal.
