AB - هدف البحث إلى الكشف عن معوقات تحقيق التنمية المهنية الذاتية لمعلمي اللغة الإنجليزية ومتطلبات تحقيقها. تم استخدام المنهج الوصفي، وتم تطبيق استبانة على عينة عشوائية قوامها 205 معلم من معلمي اللغة الإنجليزية بالمرحلة الثانوية بمحافظة الدقهلية. توصلت الباحثة إلى أن من أهم المعوقات التي تواجه معلمي اللغة الإنجليزية هي: كثرة الأعباء المهنية كمعلم للغة الإنجليزية بالتعليم الثانوي، وتعدد مسؤوليات المعلم الاجتماعية والأسرية. ومن أهم المتطلبات التي يحتاجها المعلم لتنمية ذاته مهنيا، هي: توعية المعلمين بكفايات وأساليب التنمية المهنية الذاتية، وتحقيق مستوى جيد في تدريس اللغة الإنجليزية. AB - This research aimed to reveal the obstacles facing English language teachers to achieve professional self-development and the requirements to achieve them. To achieve this goal, the researcher used the descriptive approach, and applied a questionnaire to a random sample of 205 English language teachers at the secondary level in Dakahlia Governorate. The researcher concluded that: the most important obstacles facing English language teachers to achieve professional self-development are: The large number of job burdens as a teacher of English in secondary education, and the multiplicity of social and family responsibilities of the teacher. The most important requirements are: Awareness of teachers about the competencies and methods of self-professional development to achieve international professionalism, and to achieve a good level in English language teaching.
