AB - هدف البحث إلى دراسة العلاقة بين الصلابة النفسية والتفاؤل من جهة، ودراسة علاقتها ببعض المتغيرات مثل الجنس، العمر، والمرحلة الدراسية. تألفت العينة من 300 تلميذا لبنانيا، من الذكور والإناث تراوحت أعمارهم ما بين 15 و17 سنة. توصلت النتائج إلى وجود علاقة إرتباط قوية بين الصلابة النفسية والتفاؤل. أيضا كشفت نتائج البحث عن وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين الذكور والإناث في متغير الصلابة النفسية والتفاؤل. هذا وتبين أيضا إرتفاع مستوى الصلابة النفسية والتفاؤل لدى الذكور مقارنة ً بالإناث. وأخيرا، أشارت نتائج البحث إلى تدني مستوى التفاؤل لدى المراهقين تدريجياً مع ارتفاع المرحلة التعليمية، حيث أن تلامذة صف الأول ثانوي متفائلون أكثر من تلامذة صف الثالث ثانوي. AB - The study aimed at identifying the relation between psychological hardiness and optimism among Lebanese adolescents. It also aimed at examining significant differences in the two variables due to gender and academic school level. The researcher used descriptive research methodology that matches the nature and aims of the study. To gather the data, the researcher used two scales for assessing hardiness and optimism. The sample consisted of 300 Lebanese students (males and females), aged between 15 years and 17 years, registered in official schools in Beirut. The results of the study revealed that there is a significant positive correlation between psychological hardiness and optimism among adolescents. It also showed that there are significant differences between males and females on levels of psychological hardiness and optimism. Males got higher levels on psychological hardiness and optimism. Finally, the results revealed that there are differences in levels of psychological hardiness and optimism according to academic school year.
