AB - This study aims to understand the reality of university libraries in the era of digital transformation and the resulting changes in their performance with the progression of content towards digital platforms. This study sheds light on the importance of the university library as a fundamental source of information and a supportive element for the educational curriculum, especially after the digital transformation that has been recently witnessed in all fields. The study adopted a descriptive analytical approach to assess the capabilities of Lebanese university libraries and their ability to meet the students' academic needs. Using this approach, a questionnaire was employed to assess the viewpoints of students regarding all aspects of both the libraries at Beirut Arab University and Lebanese American University. We posed several questions revolving around student preferences that could be added to their respective libraries to meet their academic and cognitive needs. At the end of the study, it became evident that students view the presence of the library and its resources as an essential asset to their education that cannot be fully substituted by the offerings of digital databases. Rather, the results emphasized the importance of the library as a place for study, interaction with classmates, and a nurturing environment for emerging technologies.
