AU - القطان، عروب أحمد عبد العزيز AB - The objective of the study is to identify the most important applied mechanisms and sources of administrative decision making in the Basic Education College in Kuwait, to reveal the degree of participation of the faculty members in decision making, to identify the main obstacles to administrative decision making from the perspective of the study sample, and to determine whether there are significant statistical differences between the means of the responses of the study sample on the study axes that may be attributed to the variables (gender, nature of the academic department, job title, and years of experience). In order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive analytical approach. The researcher used the interview and questionnaire as the tools of the study and then verified their validity and ensured their consistency. The study community consists of the Dean of the college, the assistant deans, all the teaching faculty members, the training faculty members of the Faculty of Basic Education, and the heads of departments. The study reached a number of conclusions, including: The study sample has arranged decision making mechanisms in terms of their importance, the reality of their use, and their application to. "The senior leadership is keen to review the latest data and information available for decision-making" and "the senior leadership adopts appropriate solutions and alternatives in solving problems”. "Senior leadership uses a collective approach to decision-making and problem solving.” The College's senior leadership diagnoses problems using scientific methods. "The senior leadership undertakes research and studies to support decision-making.” The study sample has arranged the sources of information needed for decision-making in the Basic Education College as follows: the first is the “technical office”, the second is the “regulations and decisions in the college and the faculty”, the third is “the council of the scientific departments and the college council”, and the last is “proposals and opinions boxes”. The study sample agree that the degree of participation of the faculty members in decision-making in the Faculty of Basic Education College was medium. There are a number of obstacles that limit the decision-making process. The first one is the "lack of financial fund allocated to the development of the technological infrastructure necessary for decision-making in the college", followed by "the external interventions from the State's legislative authority", then "the absence of an accurate and up-to-date and comprehensive database in the college that links the results of scientific studies and the needs of the college and address its problems," while the least affecting obstacle is "the fear of the faculty members of taking responsibility.” The study gave a number of recommendations: Providing sufficient budget and funding sources necessary to modernize and maintain the technological infrastructure of the decision-making process. Updating and developing the databases required for decision making through the presence of specialists in these databases and holding training courses for those currently in charge of them.
