AU - محمد، معن جاسم AB - The study aims at investigating the relation between the cognitive styles and aesthetic preferences in students. To achieve the aim of the study, the researcher utilized two scales to measure the cognitive style "reflective-impulsive" and the cognitive approach "systematic intuitive". The aesthetic preference test was built of twenty plastic art paintings. Half of them represent the figurative orientation, while the other half stands for the non-figurative stream. The tools of the study were applied on a sample of students from the Department of Plastic Arts, College of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad. The study found that there is a slight positive relation between the two cognitive styles and aesthetic preference in the students of the study sample.
