AB - The current research aims at identifying the effectiveness of using the proposed strategy on developing social studies teachers' constructivist teaching skills and self-efficacy in basic education through focusing on constructivist teaching skills and self-efficacy necessary for social studies teachers in basic education. The researchers used the analytical descriptive method in writing the theoretical framework and the quasi-experimental method in field application. The most important research findings can be summarized as follows; The proposed strategy has been effective through research findings tools. There is a statistically significant difference between scores mean of teaching performance observation checklist in written performance test and social studies teachers' self-efficacy scale in basic education in favour of the post application. Besides, there are some findings of the current research as; Social studies teachers lack many constructivist teaching skills necessary for them as a result of low professional standard of the vast majority of them. It's of great importance to determine the constructivist teaching skills necessary for qualifying individuals to continue learning and professional development as well as devising programs through which this qualification can be achieved. Devising a checklist of constructivist teaching skills necessary for social studies teachers' qualification to achieve effective self- professional development. (Published abstract)
