AU - عبد الكريم، ماجد عبد الستار AU - إبراهيم، هديل ساجد AB - The traditional methods used in teaching general sciences that depend on memorization and the weakness of the professional and scientific abilities of the primary school teachers of general sciences in most primary school that have resulted in the low percentage of success during the last eleven years, the researcher applied a modern style in teaching general sciences. It is the style of role playing that may lead to the increase in the achievement and motivation of primary school girls. This style depends on playing roles prepared for 5th primary school girls and through these roles the scientific subject can be clarified and simplified. Thus, the educational target can be carried out. This study aims at knowing the effectiveness of role playing in the achievement of the 5th primary school girls and their motivation in learning general sciences through following two hypotheses : there is no meaningful statistical difference at the level 1 of (0.05) between the average marks of the achievement of the primary school girls of the experimental group that are taught by the role playing style and the average marks of the achievement of those of the control group that are taught by the traditional method. There is no meaningful statistical difference at the level 2 of (0.05) between them and motivation of primary school girls of the experimental group that are taught by the role playing style and the motivation of primary school girls of the control group that are taught by the traditional method. The experimental design was used (the post test for the achievement and the pre and post test for the motivation for learning general sciences). Two sections of the 5th year primary school girls were randomly chose and they from the sample of the study, which consists of (61) pupils: (30) as the experimental group and (31) as the control group. The two groups were equalized concerning three variables: previous knowledge, age and the standard of intelligence. Then the researcher prepared an achievement test submitted it to the jury member to decide its face validity. The reliability of the test was measured by re – test. Then, the difficulty coefficient and the achievement test were found. The results of the experiment show that the primary school girls of the experimental group taught by the role playing style were better than the primary school girls of the control group taught by the traditional method with a meaningful statistical difference in both achievement and motivation to learn general sciences.
