AB - The study aimed at identifying the level of conceptual and procedural knowledge among the students of mathematics departments at Umm AlQura University, and the degree of differences among them according to academic level and gender. The descriptive method was used, as the researcher prepared a surveying test of conceptual and procedural knowledge and applied it to (216) male and female students. The results of the study showed a low level of conceptual and procedural knowledge among the students of the mathematics departments at Umm Al-Qura University. The results also showed that there was no statistically significant difference at the level of conceptual knowledge among the students of the first and seventh levels in mathematics departments. However, there was a statistically significant difference at the level of procedural knowledge among the students of the first and seventh level, in favor of the seventh level students. There was no difference at the level of conceptual and procedural knowledge between the students of mathematics departments at Umm Al Qura University due to gender. In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommended that: mathematics departments programs should be improved in order to contribute to the improvement of conceptual and procedural knowledge among male and female students, mathematics course books should be provided with suitable strategies that focus on active learning in order to help university and high school students acquire conceptual and procedural knowledge, the content of mathematics course books should be re-evaluated and enhanced with enrichment activities that improve conceptual and procedural knowledge of male and female students.
