AB - This study aimed at devising a proposed strategy based on mathematical communication and investigating its effectiveness in developing some 21st century skills among primary school students. To achieve the objective of the study, the literature and previous studies have been analyzed to determine the skills of the 21st century, the methods of their development and measurement, and the building of the proposed strategy. A teacher guide was prepared in the unit of measurement (Perimeter, area and volume) in the second semester in sixth grade. The test of 21st century was prepared related to (20) as a real life situations including (50) items, to measure (creative thinking, critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical metacognition). The validity and reliability of test was examined. The study depends on the experimental method, based on a pre-post-test design. The study sample was selected randomly, and it was consisted of two groups: experimental (34) and control (31). The experimental group was taught according to the proposed strategy, while the control group was taught according to the usual strategies. The most important search results are statistically significant differences at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the two groups experimental and between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the post-application to control in the post application of the 21st century skills test in general and its skills separately. The study recommended the use of teaching strategies based on mathematical processes, including mathematics communication, and the training of mathematics teachers, focusing on the planning and implementation of teaching in order to develop the skills of the 21st century.
