AB - The objectives of this research were: 1) to know the reality of acceptance and desire to choose the departments of art education in Saudi Arabia. 2) To look for solutions that are hoped to develop the mechanisms of encouraging students enrolled in the teaching profession. I used two approaches: the descriptive approach to limit the numbers of enrolled students by communicating with all eight departments of art education that represent the study sample. The qualitative approach was based on the personal interviews of the faculty members in eight departments. The main results of the research: 1) females want to enroll in art education departments more than males. 2) Most male / female enrollments enter the specialization involuntarily. 3) Some departments were required to accommodate the participants above their human and material capacities. 4) Technical capacity tests were not standardized, and informal measures predominate in acceptance. The main recommendations were: 1) development of practices that wish to teach art through courses related to the teaching profession of art education such as field education and curricula of art education and teaching methods. 2) Educational media should stimulate the desire of high school graduates towards the teaching profession in general, and the teaching of art in particular. 3) The decision makers in the universities must respect the decisions of the art education departments, and not overload them according to their human and material potential, in order to reflect positively on the improvement of the preparation of the teacher of art education. Among the most prominent proposals: to improve and standardize the acceptance tests of art education teachers and subject them to scientific standards.
