AU - الغامدي، يوسف سعيد AB - The study used the experimental method using the pre-post design on two groups: the experimental and the control group. The study sample consisted of 60 students from the secondary school students. The sample were chosen randomly from the students of the first secondary grade and divided into two equal groups. The equality of the two groups in age, self-regulated learning and the academic achievement was verified before the application of the problem-based learning strategy on the experimental group. A teacher guide to teach monotheism based on problem-based learning strategy prepared by the researcher. The study used the following tools: an academic achievement test in monotheism and the measure of self-regulated learning prepared by Gharaibeh (2010). The results of the study showed the effectiveness of using the problem-based learning strategy in the development of self-regulated learning and the academic achievement in monotheism among the secondary school students when compared to the traditional ways. Based on the results the study recommends using the problem based learning strategy in teaching monotheism and other school subjects.
