AB - The study critically examines capitalistic education from critical pedagogy's perspective, and raises the following question: How may critical pedagogy contribute in overcoming capitalism dilemma that faces education in consuming societies? The researcher adopted Critical Theory as an approach for the inquiry. The study showed that the spread of capitalism in education lead to several dilemmas, appeared in four manifestations; Economy-oriented education, limited initiatives for educational reform, intensifying human oppression, and intensifying human poverty. Moreover, the study revealed that adopting critical pedagogy may limit the influence of capitalistic ideology in education. the study found that capitalism dilemmas cannot be overcome through capitalistic ideology and its liberalistic values; but rather, it starts by liberating education from paradox of liberalism through recalling three basic principles: Education is not neutral, it is either with human or against it; poverty can be fought only when person perceives the value of his abilities; and oppression can be lifted only through tolerance and through cultivating humanistic educational curriculum.
