AB - The study aims at investigating the effect of using educational package to develop skills of creating digital storytelling for children of female student teachers at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in the city of Riyadh. The experimental approach is employed by using a quasi-experimental model. In order to achieve the aims of the study, the two researchers prepare educational package to develop skills of creating digital storytelling for children using Windows Movie Maker. The study used the note card for skills of using Windows Movie Maker, and knowledge and information test necessary for creating a digital story telling using Windows Movie Maker. The validity and reliability of the study tools are confirmed. The study is applied on a sample of 22 female university students who study Children Literature course (Nhj 201) and those who passed Educational Technologies course (Techn 131) as part of the curriculum plan of Elementary Teacher Education Program. The note card for skills of using Windows Movie Maker which includes fifteen skills, and knowledge and information test necessary for creating a digital story telling using Windows Movie Maker consisting of fifteen objective items of multiple choice are also applied before and after the implementation of the study experiment. The study reveals that there are statistically significant differences at the level of 0.5, which discloses the effect of the educational package based on Windows Movie Maker in developing skills of digital storytelling for children of preservice female teachers. The effect of knowledge and information test required for creating a digital storytelling by Windows Movie Maker is demonstrated by the arithmetic mean in both pre-tests and post-tests. The mean score of female students is 10.4in the post-test, and 8.56 in the pre-test. This value indicates the presence of the effect of the experimental treatment on the posttest scores. The study recommends making use of the educational package based on Windows Movie Maker to develop skills of creating digital storytelling for children of preservice female teachers, which is presented in the current study. This can be done through applying this story telling in the teaching of both Strategies of Teaching Arabic courses and Educational Techniques courses in the curriculum plans of university educational programs; for its effectiveness. The study also suggests conducting academic study using programs and applications of creating story telling for children. The researchers post digital storytelling in a blog created for this purpose.
