AB - This study tackled the evaluation of mathematics book for 8th class of basic school. The study attempts to attain a set of objectives such as identifying basis and clarity of educational goals of mathematics book, the correlation of book’s subject matter with used teaching methods to attain the educational goals of book as well as identifying the use of educational methods and means which can achieve educational goals and recognize evaluation techniques that able to achieve educational goals. The statement of problem reflected on that mathematics book for 8th class of basic school comes up shortage of attaining the educational goals, deficiency in methods and activities used in teaching mathematics and deficiency in the use of evaluation techniques that exploit to achieve goals of teaching mathematics. The importance of study lies in identifying that the goals of teaching mathematics book are infinite and unclear as well as to draw attention of curriculums makers to significance of specifying and explaining goals of book in addition to deficiency in used teaching methods to attain the educational goals of mathematics book, and deficiency in methods and activities that used in mathematics book for 8th class of basic school and deficiency in evaluation techniques and educational goals “45”. The researcher used descriptive-analytical approach. Questionnaire was used by the researcher as study tool to collect information “98”. Respondents of study included male and female teachers of mathematics for 8th class in basic school level. Sample of study was randomly collected. The most important results were: according to field study conducted in various male and female teachers in Khartoum- Bahri North- Unit of Droshab and Kadarow, the goals of mathematics book for 8th class correlate with goals of basic level. It was found that mathematics book’s subject matter for 8th class of basic school involves some problems of illustrations. It is very momentous to check up the curriculum to take into account tendency and trends of pupils and their environmental problems. (Author's abstract) http://search.shamaa.org/abstract_en.gif
