AB - The study aimed at investigating the use of metacognition strategy in the mathematical proof and the achievement of the students in the basic stage in the circle unit. The sample of the study consisted of the ninth grade students enrolled in Tarek Ibn Zaid Secondary School for Boys and the Qadisiya Secondary School for Girls (125), Divided into two groups: an experimental group using a cognitive thinking strategy, and the control group was studied according to the usual method of teaching. To answer the questions of the study, the researcher prepared achievement exam in the unit of the circle, verified its validity and reliability, and a scale in the mathematical proof as well as verified the validity and reliability. The results of the study showed that there was a statistically significant difference (α ≤0.05) in the achievement of the study group in favor of the experimental group which was studied using cognitive thinking skills as well as mathematical proof. The results of the study did not show differences between males and females in both achievement and mathematical proof. (Published Abstract) http://search.shamaa.org/abstract_en.gif
