AU - Ahouari-idri, Nadia AB - This study investigated the effectiveness of a training program, based on the modification of negative self-statement, to reduce foreign language anxiety (FLA) among EFL students at university in Jordan. To achieve this goal, the foreign language classroom anxiety scale was used. Participants were 30 male and female students from Ajloun National University, who scored high in FLA, and randomly dispensed to one of the two groups: experimental and control. The experimental group received a pilot programme to modify the negative self-statement and the control group did not. Results showed that the modification of negative self-statement program (MNSP) was effective in reducing FLA. A statistically significant difference (.05) was found between the two groups in the effectiveness of the self-statement programme.(Published abstract) http://search.shamaa.org/abstract_en.gif AB - هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى استقصاء فاعلية برنامج تدريبي يستند إلى تعديل حديث الذات السلبي في تخفيض قلق تعلم اللغة الأجنبية عند طلبة الجامعة في مرحلة البكالوريوس، ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تم استخدام مقياس قلق اللغة الأجنبية. تكونت عينة الدراسة من 30 طالباً وطالبة من جامعة عجلون الوطنية وممن حصلوا على أعلى الدرجات، على مقياس قلق اللغة الأجنبية، حيث تم تقسيمهم عشوائياً إلى مجموعتين: مجموعة تجريبية ومجموعة ضابطة. وتكونت المجموعة التجريبية من 15 طالباً وطالبة، وتلقت برنامجاً إرشادياً لتعديل حديث الذات السلبي، أما المجموعة الضابطة فلم تتلق أيّ برنامج علاجي. وأظهرت نتائج الدراسة أن برنامج تعديل حديث الذات السلبي كان أكثر فاعلية من عدم المعالجة في تخفيض قلق اللغة الأجنبية. وأظهرت النتائج وجود فروق ذوات دلالة إحصائية 0.05 في فاعلية برنامج تعديل حديث الذات السلبي بحسب الجنس ولصالح الذكور.
