AU - الشهاب، هيام محمد AB - The present study aimed to investigate the effect of direct instruction of metacognitive skills in: concepts learning transfer of learning, and achievement goal - orientation among students of basic eighth grade. To achieve this aim, a test of concepts learning, a test of transfer of learning, and an achievement goal- orientation scale were developed, and verified for validity and reliability. The intended study sample consisted of (69) female students from the eighth grade of primary Rabi'a Aladwiah school in Jordan, and were distributed into two groups: an experimental group (32 students), and a control group (37 students). The experimental group studied by direct instruction of metacognitive skills for two months, while the control group was taught by the traditional way of instruction. Results of the study revealed the existence of significant differences between the two groups in favor of the experimental group that received direct instruction of metacognitive skills on each of: concepts learning transfer of learning, and achievement goal - orientation.
