AB - The study aimed to estimate the level of cognitive competencies among secondary school teachers in the field of calculus, specifically in the subject of the derivative. We followed the descriptive analytical approach on a sample of (70) male and female secondary school teachers, using a test based on multiple choice consisting of seven questions. The results of the study showed low levels of cognitive competencies among secondary school teachers in the subject of the derivative in the context of physical and graphical representations, understanding the relationships between the derivative and the slope of the tangent and how to link them to the teaching method and real life.
