A1 Saeed, Nuhail H. AB This study tackles the ways in which Iraqi students of English as a foreign language (EFL) gather ideas to use for writing composition. Specifically, the study deals with brainstorming which has different techniques. Moreover, the study shows the different methods the students can use to write and develop their paragraphs after brainstorming. The aim is to present these brainstorming techniques and indicate which one(s) students prefer most. Furthermore, this study sheds light on the students’ erroneous use of the brainstorming techniques. The result of the study revealed that Iraqi EFL students use listing most.
