A1 عساف، محمود عبد المجيد AB The study aimed to determine the philosophical basis for education on human rights and its relation to social peace, and to determine the role of universities in legal education on human rights, and then propose the practical mechanisms to activate this role. To achieve this, the researcher followed the descriptive / analytic approach, Using the method of focus groups, where the sample included (8) faculty members, (14) students, and concluded the results to: 1) Despite the efforts made by the faculty member to legalize human rights education, cultural heritage and the repercussions of the external environment are the most influential. 2) The political and cultural contradictions surrounding the university environment limit the exercise of its role in achieving community peace. 3) The most important educational policies necessary to activate the role of universities is accountability for human rights education within the university. The study recommended the need to integrate the values and principles of human rights as activities accompanying the curriculum in all university disciplines.
