A1 نصر، ريحاب أحمد عبد العزيز AB The research aims at identifying the effectiveness of teaching science according to thinking maps and electronic mind maps strategies to develop achievement, retention and some habits of mind among sixth grade hearing impaired pupils in Abha. The sample was divided into two groups, one experimental group that was taught unit «diversity of life», according to thinking maps and electronic mind maps strategies, and another control group that was taught the same unit in the usual ways in deaf education. The researcher tools were applied; an achievement test, the scale of habits of mind, and an achievement test (delayed after six weeks of studying the unit). The results revealed that there was significant between the experimental group and the control group in the post tests and the habits of mind in the favor of the experimental group. And the research recommended the necessity for promoting a culture of teaching according to strategies based on visual reasoning for the hearing impaired such as teaching using Thinking Maps and Electronic Mind Maps Strategies, training hearing impaired pupils’ science teachers on them, and concerning the development of habits of mind related to the study of science to overcome the problems facing the hearing impaired in life situations.
