A1 شاكر، أنوار فاروق AB This study aims at evaluating the performance of history teaching staff members in the University of Diyala according to active teaching principles. The study sample consisted of 75 history staff members in the University of Diyala for the academic year 2017-2018 which was chosen randomly. The researcher prepared a questionnaire for evaluating teaching staff members according to active learning principles. It included five aspects: aims, scientific-historical research, teaching methods, teacher, and evaluation. The questionnaire included 21 items in its final version. The items’ psychometric properties were extracted using percentage. The study reached to a set of results that showed the commitment of teaching staff to active learning principles. The study ended with a set of recommendations and suggestions. The researcher recommended: 1) the attention to the courses and symposiums of teaching methods in the university that develop the principles of active learning. 2) Adopting the principles of active learning in teaching the students of the University of Diyala, colleges of education for humanities and basic education to develop teaching and modern teaching methods.
