A1 حافظ، وحيد السيد. AB This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed strategy in developing some reading and writing skills of intellectual education elementary school students. To achieve the former goal, identifying the reading and writing skills that are necessary to the second graders of intellectual education institutes and programs, and developing the proposed strategy. And examining the effectiveness of the proposed strategy by: selecting a number of second graders in intellectual education institutes (n = 16) in Riyadh and teaching the target content with the proposed strategy, after that, scoring the test and treating data statistically. The research found the following results: there were statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the reading and writing pre- and posttest in favor of the posttest. This means the proposed program proved effective in developing the reading and writing skills of elementary school students with intellectual disabilities. And the rate of adjusted gain in reading and writing skills did not reach the acceptable level (i.e., 1.2), even though the proposed strategy proved effective.
