A1 كمونة، نادية ستار أحمد. A2 غيدان، سهام عبد AB The study was conducted at AL- Durar secondary school in Baquba – Diyala governorate. It focuses on the Effect of additional reading of the poems on the achievement of first intermediate students in composition. The sample consists of (44) female students studying poems and (20) female students studying compositions by traditional approach. The researchers parallel between two groups (fixed & experiment) on the following variants. The average of sixth primary class and the educational degree of the parents. The experiment was applied at the beginning of the academic year 2008-2009 and continued for the whole course. One of the researchers taught each group students six topics and at the end of the experiment she made the students sit for a later test on a unified topic for both groups to write on. She depended on Al –Hashimi criteria on scoring students writings. The results showed that there was no statistically significant difference at level (0,05).
