AB - This paper examines the effect of online collaborative learning, which is based on the connectivism theory, on academic self-efficacy and mastery motivation. Two web 2.0 tools are used: Facebook and Wiki. The current research is conducted with 26 participants who are first year students in a private diploma in instruction technology at Faculty of Specific Education, Minia University in the second semester of the academic year 2013/2014. To achieve the objectives of the research, the researcher has used a quasi-experimental approach. Academic self-efficacy was measured using Abdel Aziz Mohamed Hassaballah scale (2012). Mastery efficacy was measured using Ali Ahmed Said Mustafa scale (2004). The two scales were used before and after collaborative learning. The obtained results confirmed that online collaborative learning raises the level of academic self-efficacy and mastery motivation. The results also demonstrated a significant correlative relation between academic self-efficacy level and mastery motivation level. (Published abstract)
