AB - The current study aimed to explore the rumors of social networking sites and show their negative impacts on King Saud University students. The study made use of the social survey method and the participants were randomly assigned. The study utilized a questionnaire for collecting the required data, and the sample consisted of the students at the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth levels (totaling 100 students) at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Social Studies at King Saud University in Riyadh. The results of the study revealed that the frequent used social networks by the students were WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Blog, E-mails. The results of the study also revealed that there was a common consensus concerning the degree of agreement among the study sample about the first question (What are the attitudes of the university students towards rumors?). The responses indicated that the participants' average agreement ranged from (3.96) to (3.19). Moreover, there was a strong agreement to all the statements describing the impact of social media on the attitudes of university students in terms of rumors. Finally, there was a strong agreement on all the statements describing the factors associated with university students attitudes towards rumors.
