AB - This paper examines the reality of education in Syria throughout the years of the current crisis, and prior. It aims at examining the methods and mechanisms of education and its general structure which dominated for generations prior to the crisis, and at thoroughly inspecting its values and qualities, and how it transformed into its current status during the country’s ongoing crisis. (2011-2017.) The research focuses on the problems of education in Syria: the efficiency of the education system including the repetition of a school year (in case of failure by students), or in case of dropping out (leaving an educational stage without completing it), as this constitutes the most critical problem facing children's education when they enter the labor market or they are faced with unemployment. The paper also reveals that only a good scientific system with essential values can achieve Syria's aspiration for socio-cultural cohesion, and can instill the values of tolerance, coexistence and development throughout Syria. This research focuses on Syrian schools and calls on the state to exert efforts to rebuild them, as it is the best way to restore social stability and rebuild the people’s capabilities which are the basis for the reconstruction of Syria.
