The research aimed to reveal the direct effect of the virtual self image on both authentic personality and positive mental health and the direct effect of authentic personality on positive mental health among university students. It also sought to verify the indirect effect of the virtual self-image on positive mental health in the presence of authentic personality as an intervening variable. The number of the research sample that was randomly selected was (253) male and female students at Benha University. It relied on the descriptive correlational approach, and the measurement tools were applied represented by the virtual self-image and authentic personality scales (prepared by the researcher), and the positive mental health scale prepared by (2016) Lukat et al, translated and Arabized by Abdullah (2022). The results showed a statistically significant positive effect at the level (0.001) for the virtual self-image on authentic personality in the research sample. It also revealed a statistically significant positive effect of the dimensions of authentic personality (objective evaluation of oneself and others and authentic social behavior) on positive mental health in the research sample. The results also indicated the presence of positive indirect effects (of the private virtual self-image) and (the ideal virtual self-image) on positive mental health in the presence of authentic social behavior as one of the dimensions of authentic personality as an intermediary variable, indicating that authentic personality has a partial intermediary role in the relationship between the effect of the virtual self-image (the independent variable) on positive mental health (the dependent variable), and that authentic personality (the intermediary variable) increased the value of the effect in the model after its entering , and thus authentic personality has a role in increasing the effect of the virtual self-image on positive mental health among university students.
