This article aims to highlight the social and technological trends that have come to frame institutional educational action, and points to the urgent need to establish a new techno-educational sociology approach. The transformations associated with the introduction of technology into education play a major role in the emergence of new issues that require a multidimensional approach. In this context, the need has emerged to establish a new discipline of Techno-Educational sociology within the contemporary sociology of education. The article relies on a descriptive and analytical approach to the various educational phenomena emerging as a result of technological penetration into the teaching and learning process. The need has emerged for researchers in the sociology of contemporary education to engage in an approach to the accelerating digital transformations in teaching and learning systems, and not just focus on social issues related to educational practice. This is to address a range of new phenomena, and to link these phenomena to their various political, economic, and social dimensions. (Published abstract)
