This paper aims to examine the problem of the wide gap between conception and practice that characterizes the reality of the Moroccan primary education curriculum, the major challenges it faces, and the possible alternatives that could serve as a key to meeting contemporary educational demands. The study addresses the issue of the Moroccan primary education curriculum in terms of the significant gap between conception and practice. It seeks to answer the question of whether this gap is structural, related to theoretical dimensions and strategic choices, or whether it stems from technical issues associated with implementation and enactment. In line with the nature of the topic and the methodological design of the research, the descriptive–analytical approach was employed to identify the different levels of the Moroccan primary education curriculum and to reveal the shortcomings and challenges that hinder the proper implementation of theoretical educational conceptions. Curriculum development is a complex, interrelated, and multi-factorial process. It requires strong political and societal will, grounded in educational reform as a foundation for comprehensive development. Within this framework, the curriculum constitutes a safeguard for preserving individual foundations and the value-based and civilizational specificities of society. It is also a tool for addressing the diverse challenges of the contemporary era and a key gateway through which the future can be accessed. (Published abstract)
