The research aimed to examine the prevalence of social networking sites addiction among students at Al-Arish University, verify the existence of differences due to gender and specialization in social networking sites addiction, and determine the correlation between the scores of Al-Arish University students in social networking sites addiction and both moral disengagement and empathy. Determining the relative contribution of both moral disengagement and empathy in social networking sites addiction. The study sample consisted of (625) male and female students from Al-Arish University, whose ages ranged from (19-21) years, with an average age of (19.60), and a standard deviation of (0.979). The sample of addicts consisted of (198) male and female students, with an average age of (19.60) and a standard deviation of (0.642). The study tools were applied: the social networking sites addiction Scale (prepared by Andreassen et al, 2012), and the Moral Disengagement Scale (prepared by Detert et al, 2008), and the empathy scale (prepared by Davis, 1980, 1983). The results of the study concluded: Variation in the percentages of those addicted to social networking sites addiction. There are no statistically significant differences between male and female students in social networking sites addiction. There are no statistically significant differences between students in the literary department and students in the scientific department in addiction to social networking sites addiction. There are no correlations between the dimensions of the moral disengagement scale and each of salience, tolerance, and relapse. There are statistically significant negative correlations between mood modification and Euphemistic labeling and advantageous comparison. The existence of statistically significant positive correlations between withdrawal and Diffusion of responsibility, the presence of statistically significant negative correlations between conflict and diffusion of responsibility, the presence of statistically significant negative correlations between the total score of the social networking sites addiction and both Euphemistic labeling and diffusion of responsibility, the presence of statistically significant positive correlations between All dimensions of the Empathy Scale and each of salience, relapse, and withdrawal. There are no correlations between tolerance and all dimensions of the Empathy Scale. The presence of positive, statistically significant correlations between mood modification and personal distress. The presence of positive, statistically significant correlations between conflict and both interest and personal distress. It predicts personal distress with the salience dimension, advantageous comparison predicts the Mood Modification dimension, perspective –taking, and empathic concern predicts the relapse dimension, diffusion of responsibility and empathic concern predicts the withdrawal dimension, diffusion of responsibility and empathic concern predicts the conflict dimension.
