The study aimed to identify the international efforts in the field of limiting the negative repercussions of the of academics brain drain, and identify the factors and repercussions of academics brain drain from the faculty members at a number of Egyptian universities, in addition to uncovering the statistically significant differences between the means of the respondents response to the factors and repercussions, attributed to: gender, grade, college speciality, migration and travel experiences, and then preparing a suggested proposal to reduce the negative repercussions of academics brain drain. The study relied on a descriptive approach that has two analytical and survey aspects, which is based on using the questionnaire as instrument of data collection, which was applied to a stratified random sample of (261) faculty members in (24) Egyptian universities, especially those with experiences in immigration, travel, and residence abroad. The study concluded that there are internal, external, and common factors that drive the academics brain drain, in addition to the presence of internal, external, and common factors that attract academics brain drain in Egyptian universities, where the driving factors are attributed to the countries that send academic competencies, and the attractive factors are attributed to Receiving countries. The study also found that there are many negative and positive repercussions attributable to the academics brain drain. With regard to the differences of statistical significance, it was found that there were statistically significant differences at the level (0.05) between the means response of the members of the study sample about the driving, and attracting factors of academics brain drain due to the gender, and the differences were in favour of females, and there were also statistically significant differences at a level (0.05) between the means of the responses of the study sample individuals about the negative economic implications of the migration of academic competencies attributable to the academic rank, in favour of faculty members of the rank of professor and assistant professor. The study presented a suggested proposal that is based on limiting the driving factors of academics brain drain and reducing its negative repercussions. (Published abstract)
