The study aimed to provide a proposed vision for activating media education in Saudi universities in the light of Islamic education, by revealing the reality of activating media education in Saudi universities and identifying the requirements for activating it in Saudi universities, in addition to benefiting from the expertise and experiences of developed world countries in this field. The researcher applied the descriptive documentary approach and the descriptive survey approach to answer the study questions. The researcher used the questionnaire as a tool for his study, to reveal the reality of activating media education in Saudi universities in the light of Islamic education. The researcher also held an expert symposium to clarify the requirements for activating media education, and the researcher applied the Delphi method to reach a proposed vision for activating media education in Saudi universities. The study population consisted of faculty members in the departments and faculties of education and information, Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Umm Al-Qura University, Hail University, and the Saudi Electronic University, with a total number of (836). The researcher applied his study on a random sample using the Robert Mason formula to calculate the study sample, which numbered (261) members. The results of the reality of activating media education in Saudi universities were as follows: 1) The results of the study showed that the activation of media education in Saudi universities through faculty members came with a (moderate) degree, an arithmetic mean of (3.33), and a relative weight of (66.6%). 2) As for student activities, it is activated with a (average) degree, an arithmetic mean of (2.80), and a relative weight of (56.0%). 3) As for the reality of activating media education through the curricula in Saudi universities, media education is activated with a (medium) degree, a mean of (2.77), and a relative weight of (55.4%). 4) As for the obstacles that limited the activation of media education, they came at a level (average), with an arithmetic mean of (3.13) and a relative weight of (62.6%). And not to differentiate between media education and educational information. 5) The study also found the most important requirements for activating media education through academic and organizational requirements: First: Academic requirements: a) Academic requirements for faculty members: - Qualifying faculty members and preparing them professionally and in the media through specialized courses, seminars, and workshops.- Developing awareness mechanisms and adapting to the environment among students to establish a culture of dialogue, self-expression, and communication skills. b) academic Requirements Through Courses: - Adoption of a subject in media education for all stages of general and university education, and a subject in critical thinking related to each other. - Training students on media production and students' participation in creating, producing, and broadcasting media content on various social media as part of contributing to media production. c) Academic requirements through student activities: - The contribution of a faculty member to activating media education through extracurricular activities. - Activating student clubs, supporting their programs with media education topics, and enhancing their presence in student festivals internally and externally. Second) Organizational Requirements: - Endorsement of an annual award to encourage research on media education topics and provide incentives for media education research. - Establishing partnerships, communication, and bridging the relationship between universities and the Ministry of Information or the Ministry of Culture for the construction and development process, and to deepen the concept of media education among the public. - Sensing civil society institutions to play their role in promoting the concept of media education by intensifying awareness programs and workshops to achieve an increase in sound media awareness. - To form a link between universities and the Ministry of Information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to deepen the concepts of educational programs and the concept of media education for the public. - Issuing regulations, materials, and organizational policies for media education in Saudi universities. - Inviting universities to establish centers for media production aimed at training students on various media products, as well as educating and training them to deal optimally with media contents.
