The study aimed to explore the relationship between family upbringing and achievement motivation among Nizwa University students. The study sample consisted of (171) male and female students from Nizwa University in all its four colleges and from different academic years. To achieve the study objectives and answer its questions, three scales were constructed (family upbringing scale, and achievement motivation scale). The validity and reliability of the three scales were calculated using appropriate statistical methods. The results of the study showed that Nizwa University students have a level of upbringing that ranged from medium to very high. Students also have a motivation to achieve that ranged from low to very high. The results of the study showed that there are no statistically significant differences between males and females in the level of family upbringing and motivation to achieve attributable to the variables of gender and academic year, there are no statistically significant differences in family upbringing, and the motivation to achieve is attributed to the cumulative GPA variable. The results also showed that there is a weak positive correlation between achievement motivation and family upbringing. In light of the study results, the study recommended the need to pay attention to raising the level of motivation for achievement for students. (Published abstract)
