نمط العقلية السائد (التأملية - التنفيذية) كمتنبئ بالتفكير الإيجابي لدى الطلبة الجامعيين
The study aimed to identify the prevailing mindset (deliberative-implemental) among university students and its ability to predict their positive thinking, as well as to determine whether there were statistically significant differences in mindset (deliberative-implemental) according to gender and faculty variables. To achieve the study objectives, data were collected using two research instruments: the Deliberative-Implemental Mindset Scale, which consists of two dimensions -deliberative mindset and implemental mindset- and the Positive Thinking Scale, which includes 25 items distributed across five dimensions: optimism and general satisfaction, emotional regulation and emotional intelligence, acceptance of others and personal responsibility, forgiveness and self-acceptance, and love of learning and positive risk-taking. The sample consisted of 355 male and female students from Jordanian universities, selected using a convenience sampling method during the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The results showed that both deliberative and implemental mindsets were prevalent among university students, with an average level of prevalence. The results also indicated no significant differences in the prevailing mindset based on gender and faculty. Additionally, the positive thinking level among university students was high in all dimensions of positive thinking, except for emotional regulation and emotional intelligence, where it was at an average level. The study found a significant positive relationship between the deliberative mindset and positive thinking, and a significant negative relationship between the implemental mindset and positive thinking. Furthermore, the deliberative and implemental mindsets together explained 12% of the variance in positive thinking. Considering these findings, the study proposed several significant recommendations, including organizing training and awareness workshops for university students across all faculties, focusing on the deliberative and implemental mindsets, as well as the importance of fostering positive thinking.
