The study aimed to reveal the degree of influence of social media among students of higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman on cultural identity. The study sample consisted of (281) male and female students at the College of Arts and Humanities at A’Sharqiyah University. To collect data, the researchers developed a questionnaire, and its validity and reliability were confirmed. In its final form, it consisted of (22) items, which varied between (01) items to measure the degree of influence of social media, and (15) items to measure the difference in the degree of influence on cultural identity, in addition to an open questionnaire to display the special repetitions of the answer about effective methods and proposals. In preventing the impact of social media on cultural identity from the point of view of the sample members. The results of the study showed that the arithmetic averages were high for all items of the questionnaire from the students’ point of view in light of the study’s variables. The study also showed a high degree of use of social media among students at A’Sharqiyah University in the Sultanate of Oman from the point of view of the study sample members. The study also showed a positive effect. It is statistically significant to the degree of use of social media on the cultural identity of students at A’Sharqiyah University from the point of view of the sample members. The study also showed that there are no statistically significant differences between the responses of the study sample members to the impact of social media on the cultural identity of students at A’Sharqiyah University in the Sultanate of Oman due to Study variables (gender, specialization, place of residence, and academic year). In light of the results, the study concluded with several recommendations, most notably: interest in providing awareness and education programs and enhancing digital awareness for students about using social media in a proper and responsible manner and working to provide forums and spaces for discussion and dialogue among students on topics related to cultural identity and the psychological, social and educational effects of social media.
