The research sample of (206) male and female students from the third grade of primary school for the academic year 1445 AH, who were selected using the simple random sampling method. A test was designed to measure the understanding of geometric concepts and was built according to the three levels of conceptual understanding: clarification, interpretation, and application. The results of the research showed that the level of geometric conceptual understanding among students was low at the level of clarification as well as interpretation, and medium at the level of application. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the responses of the research sample members due to the gender variable in the three levels of conceptual understanding. The research concluded by presenting some recommendations. The most important of these is the necessity of assigning mathematics specialists for teaching the mathematics curriculum in the early primary stage as this stage has a significant impact on concepts formation among students. It was also suggested that studies be conducted on the subject of conceptual understanding in other branches of mathematics. (Published abstract)
