The study aimed to reveal the extent to which the partial credit model matches the items of the Metacognitive Thinking Scale (MTS), using the descriptive analytical approach. To achieve the aim of the study, the MTS was used, developed by Schraw and Dennison, in its Arabized form. It was presented to arbitrators specialized in the industry, and after taking into consideration their opinions regarding amendments and deletion of some items, the scale became in its final form, consisting of (48) items distributed on three dimensions: Knowledge of cognition, regulation of cognition, and cognitive processing. The scale was applied electronically to a sample of (455) male and female students from the University of Tabuk By using the Easy Estimation program, the value of the internal and external matching of the items and individual responses was extracted. The results indicated that the scale fulfilled the assumptions of the modern theory, and that all (48) items matched the partial credit model, the value of the external or internal matching statistic corresponding to the estimates of the difficulty parameters for these items falls within the appropriate matching limits (0.5-1.5) and non-conformance (123) male and female students from the study sample. That is, the value of the external or internal matching statistic corresponding to the estimates of the abilities of these students is outside the matching limits (0.50-1.5). The reliability coefficient of individuals reached (0.92) and the reliability coefficient of the items reached (0.94). It was ascertained that the scale has multiple aspects of validity. Therefore, the study made recommendations, most notably: Using the scale developed in its final form in measuring metacognitive thinking among samples of university students. (Published abstract)
