The study aimed to identify the methodology of rooting knowledge management based on Islamic sources as well as to define the concept of knowledge and its types in Islam. The descriptive-analytical (documentary) method was used to suit the nature of the study. The study's results indicated that knowledge management components exist in Islamic sources. The study was able to identify four components of knowledge management: (the search for truth, reporting, restriction and memorization, working with science) where it corresponds to the components of knowledge management in modern administrative thought.
