The study aimed to identify the status quo of professional development in Saudi universities in light of the university international ranking criteria (QS). Furthermore, it determined the requirements for professional development in Saudi universities in the light of the university international ranking criteria (QS) from the point of view of academic leaders in Saudi universities. To achieve this, the descriptive approach was relied upon, the questionnaire was used as a tool for data collection, and a sample of (231) academic leaders was selected. The results of the study concluded that the degree of the status quo of professional development in Saudi universities in light of the standards of the international classification of universities (QS) from the point of view of academic leaders in Saudi universities was average on all dimensions except for the dimensions of teaching quality, and it was with a high degree of agreement. Moreover, the degree of approval of the requirements of professional development in Saudi universities in the light of the standards of the international classification of universities (QS) from the point of view of academic leaders in Saudi universities was high.
