This study aimed to identify the role of educational leadership in supporting the use of digital technology and social media in school counseling work. It addresses the concept of leadership and its importance while discussing the general characteristics of an educational leader. Furthermore, it explores the use of digital technology and social media in school counseling. The study employed the Zawahiri approach as a systematic method to achieve its objectives. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten male and female social workers in post primary schools in Muscat Governorate, Sultanate of Oman, in 2022, following approval from the Ministry of Education. Data were analyzed using an objective analysis of the topics and the identification of patterns and topics of interest within them. The study emphasized the importance of educational leadership in supporting the use of digital technology and social media by social workers in extension work. It also underscored the necessity for educational leadership systems to stay abreast of technological developments in the field of school social counseling and to have future visions for effectively incorporating technology suitable for the digital age into emotional and psychological counseling practices. In conclusion, this study provided valuable theoretical and practical contributions to policymakers, researchers, practitioners, and educational institutions regarding the integration of digital technology and social media into school extension services in the Sultanate of Oman.
