The present study aimed to examine the role of emotional competencies in the development of creativity among children with Down Syndrome, through an intervention programme based on the Emotional Competence Model of (Mikolajczak, M et all, 2020). The study has adopted the experimental method in which the Torrance Creativity Test has been applied, remotely, on a sample of 15 boys and girls. Using the SPSS programme, the results have revealed that there were statistically significant differences between the pre-test and the post-test, in favor of the latter (post-test). In another words, the total score of creative thinking, originality, and fluidity, has improved among the subjects of the study sample after finishing the programme. Hence, these results confirmed the validity of our initial hypothesis, which approve the effectiveness of the emotional competencies program in developing creativity among children with mental disabilities - Down Syndrome. Therefore, it would be important to stimulate the emotional competences of children with mental disabilities so as to ensure a constant improvement of creative performance. (Published abstract)
