This study aimed at investigating the effect of employing virtual laboratories on the achievement of third-grade students in science and their motivation towards it. The quasi-experimental and descriptive-correlational methodologies were followed. Subjects of the study (66) were intentionally chosen from a public school in Amman, and randomly distributed into two groups: experimental (32) and control (34). In order to achieve the objectives of the study, an achievement test was constructed, and a motivation scale was developed. The results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences on the achievement test and motivation scale according to the teaching method, and the differences were in favour of the students of the experimental group who used the virtual laboratories compared to the students of the control group. The results also indicated a positive statistically significant correlation between students' achievement and their motivation towards science. The study recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which were: providing access to virtual laboratories in an accessible way for teachers and students, and the use of virtual laboratories in the educational process in different scientific subjects and other levels of study. (Author's abstract)
