This study aimed to verify the effectiveness of a training program based on handicrafts as small tasks in improving self-determination skills for gifted deaf in the undergraduate stage by knowing the differences in the pre- and post- tests, and the continuity of the training program on the experimental group after completing the application of the post and follow-up tests of the self-determination skills scale. The study sample consisted of 4 gifted deaf students of Art Education Division in Aswan University, with an average age of 21 years, with 2 males and 2 females. The study tools consisted of the following: self-determination skills scale (prepared by the researchers) and the training program (prepared by the researchers) The study showed the effectiveness of the training program in improving the self-determination skills with statistically significant differences on the self-determination skills scale between the mean levels of the experimental group members in the pre- and post- tests to the side of the posttest, the existence of no statistically significant differences between the mean levels of the male and the female groups in the post-test, and the existence of no statistically significant differences on the self-determination skills scale between the mean levels of the experimental group in the post- and follow-up tests. The study concluded with the possibility of improving the self-determination skills for gifted deaf students through the application of a training program based on small tasks. The study recommends offering these programs to the teachers of art education in the field of special needs and their gifted students. (Published abstract)
