This study aimed to find out the relationship between self-compassion and the psychological empowerment of mothers to the adaptive behavior of their children with learning disabilities in the Governorate of Muscat. The study was conducted on a random sample of (10.2%) from the society of the study, whose number is (142) mothers of students with learning disabilities. Three scales were used in this study, namely: Self-compassion scale prepared by Neff (2003) translated to Arabic by Al-Jundi and Tantawi, the psychological empowerment scale prepared by (Spreitzer, 1995) (translated by Al-Nawajah 2016), and the scale of harmonious behavior, prepared and codified by (Nasr and Al-Mufti, 2016). The study followed the descriptive correlational approach. The study reached the following results. The level of self-compassion, psychological empowerment, and adaptive behavior among the mothers of students with learning disabilities in Muscat Governorate was high. There is a statistical correlation between the total score of the self-compassion scale and the total score of the psychological empowerment scale. There is also correlation between the two measures of self-compassion and the psychological empowerment of mothers and the adoptive behavior for their children of learning disabilities, meaning that the greater the self-compassion and psychological empowerment of mothers will lead to the greater improvement of the adaptive behavior of their children with learning disabilities. The results show that there are no significant differences and statistical correlation level of self-compassion and psychological empowerment among the mothers of students with learning disabilities in Muscat Governorate are attributed to the following variables (student’s gender, mother’s age), and the nature of work in the self-compassion in particular. The study shows psychological empowerment has correlation with the variable of mothers’ workers. There are no statistically significant differences in the level of adaptive behavior among students with learning disabilities in Muscat Governorate due to the variables (student's gender, mother's age, mother's work nature) from the view of their mother.
