دراسة تحليلية لأخطاء التلاميذ العرب في الرياضيات نتيجة دراستهم لها باللغة الإنجليزية
The problem of the current research is that Arab pupils who study mathematics in English have many mistakes when they deal with mathematics in Arabic in their daily life because of the language difference between the language in which they study mathematics in school and their mother tongue that they use in their daily life. Therefore, the current research attempted to answer the following questions: what are the mistakes faced by sixth grade pupils who study mathematics in English when they deal with mathematics in Arabic? What are the causes of these mistakes? How can these mistakes be treated? Therefore, personal interviews were conducted with (9) parents of these pupils, (5) teachers at these schools, and (130) pupils to identify the problems they face when dealing with mathematics in daily life in Arabic. Considering their answers, these problems were identified. To identify the size of these problems, a diagnostic test in mathematics (60 items) in Arabic was designed, which includes questions through which pupils’ answers can show the mistakes that caused problems in their daily dealings with mathematics in Arabic in society. The test was applied to (103) pupils, and after correcting the test, these mistakes were identified, categorized, and analyzed to identify their causes, and some suggestions were developed that could help treat these mistakes and prevent others from falling into them.
