This study aimed to identify the reality of strategic planning from the viewpoint of the school principals at the Saudi educational schools, in Arar. The study population was composed of all the (179) school principals at the educational schools in Arar. The study used the descriptive approach, and in order to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a questionnaire. The results showed that study participants agreed to a large extent on the practice of school leadership in relation to the strategic planning processes and he most highlighted practice was their work within a clear vision. Likewise, the study participants highly agreed on the obstacles faced in practicing strategic planning, the most emphasized of which was the scarcity of training courses in strategic planning for school principals. Participants overwhelmingly agreed on spreading the culture of strategic planning in the schools. (Published abstract)
